Welcome to Engedi's Homepage.

We are what is often termed an organic or simple home church 

 

We are a small group of friends that believe that good honest relationships are vital to a healthy and active church. We believe that all members of the church are equal and that the only head of any church is Jesus. Our relationships are focused on Him, and we believe that Jesus is truly alive and guiding us by his Spirit.

When the church began in 2000, we penned a statement of intent to succinctly state what it was that we held dear and what we stood primarily for. We rarely refer to that statement now, but it is posted here as a reminder and as a reference of what is still our desire.

We are: -

 

Living to develop an overwhelming passion

for the presence of Jesus;

To be a vibrant expression of Jesus’ body,

that is both relevant and full of power;

To build relationships with each other that

reflect God’s unconditional love for us;

And to make disciples of all generations,

being found increasingly from

House to house,

City to city

and

Nation to nation.

 
 

'Engedi' is our working title. We are a church with 'no name', but when it comes to filling in forms and booking venues for weekend gatherings we have found that a title is always required. 'Engedi' is, however, a useful handle as it describes some of the values that we consider vital to our calling.

We love to spend time together and enjoy doing lots of different things. We have eaten curry, walked, played sports, prayed, gone on holiday, had parties, practiced crafts, watched football, been pampered, sung, watched TV, watched fireworks, eaten passover lamb, fancy dressed, house partied together etc. etc. etc.

 

We enjoy life and try to bring our christianity into our everyday lives. We often fail but we are still together and hanging in there with each other.
